- In matters of faith and conduct, the Bible is our authority, with particular emphasis upon God’s revelation through Jesus (Hebrews 1:1-4).
- Like Abraham we are blessed as a people to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2), our focus needs to be outward, giving God glory and blessing others.
- We want our passion for Jesus to result in a desire to walk with Him, seeking to work where He is working, seeking to hear what He is saying, being obedient to His call, having boldness to be light and salt wherever we are.
- We seek to creatively live our lives and share the gospel in ways that are relevant to the culture and context in which God has placed us.
- We value relationships and will seek to continually build our relationship with God and people.
- We seek to see “a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9) of all believers. Some of the implications of this calling will include:
- All of God’s people are ministers and are called to ministry.
- Ministry will be primarily on the basis of call and gifting as we acknowledge and welcome the diversity of gifts given by the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-13).
- There are no ministry distinctions on the basis of race, age, social status or gender (Galatians 3:28).
- We will be a Baptist Church and value our association with and accountability to Queensland Baptists. At the same time, we will be self-governing, valuing both the responsibility of leaders to lead (Ephesians 4:11-13) and the ideals of congregational governance.
- While acknowledging the legal need for a Church Constitution, we will operate on the basis of relationships rather than rules.
- While we will teach and practice “believer baptism by immersion”, we will welcome as members into our community of faith all who confess Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, regardless of their denominational background or baptismal status.
- Our call is to make and grow disciples, to encourage everyone to a closer relationship with God and a life growing in Him.
